    Heraklion is the perfect place to acclimatise and get your first taste of Crete. Explore its charming streets, relax on lively terraces, and sample the local cuisine in one of the many traditional tavernas.     Today you have time to explore Heraklion at your own pace. Visit the impressive Palace of Knossos, one of Crete’s most important archaeological sites, or discover the renowned Archaeological Museum of Heraklion.     Day 3

    Today your rental car will be delivered to your hotel, and you will drive to the charming mountain village of Zaros, located at the foot of Mount Ida (Psiloritis). Along the way, you pass olive groves and traditional Cretan villages, offering a glimpse of the island’s authentic countryside.

    Day 4

    Today you have a free day in the green mountain village of Zaros, located on the southern slopes of the impressive Psiloritis Mountains. The area is characterised by natural springs, lush valleys, and centuries-old olive trees.

    Go for a walk to the Rouvas Gorge or around the clear waters of Lake Votomos, discover small chapels hidden in the hills, or enjoy lunch at a traditional taverna in the village. A day to explore the peaceful and authentic Cretan countryside at your own pace.

    Day 5

    Today you can head out independently for an excursion to the coastal village of Matala, famous for its hippie history, seaside caves, charming streets, and beautiful beach.
